Once spring comes, every gardener is worried about the pest and animal attacks on their trees and plants. Keeping animals such as deer and rabbits away from your trees isn’t exactly simple, but luckily, Irish Spring soap can help. The Irish Spring soap is a bar of soap with a pleasant aroma that works great as a mammal repellent, and will keep rabbits, deer and other animals further away from your garden.
There are many commercial deterrents that people use, but they contain too many chemicals and shouldn’t be applied after heavy dew or rain. On the other hand, the Irish Spring soap is far cheaper and doesn’t have any adverse side-effects. It can be bought in almost any convenience store, and will deter any mammals from ruining your trees and plants.
Here’s how to use it:
Cut the bar of Irish Spring soap in small pieces, then put them in cheesecloth and secure the pouch with some staples. Staple the pouch on wooden stakes, then put them around your trees and plants and around your garden’s perimeter as well. Make sure to use an extra few in the heavy traffic areas, and sprinkle a bit of the soap on the ground as well. Unfortunately, this soap doesn’t work against insects, but you’ll at least protect your garden from deer and rabbits, who can cause quite a lot of damage.
