Limiting your communication is the first step – you can keep the phone calls short and communicate through e-mails alone. Never talk about emotional problems with a narcissistic parent, as it might hurt you later.
Narcissists love confrontation, but they don’t stand criticism, which is why you should avoid getting in a fight with them. Find a good way to communicate, and you’ll grow as a person and keep your health intact.
Be aware that they won’t be excited by the break you want
A narcissistic parent never respects your needs, so setting boundaries is a pretty good idea. Don’t listen to their threats and self-pity – if you must, get over it quickly.
