We all do not know that stickers on foods are more than just scans for price.
This is PLU code, a lookup number on sticker label to see if the food is GMO, organic or with fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, etc.
- If the 4 digits start with 3 or 4, this means it is regular grown. The last digit is the kind of produce. Bananas have 4011.
- If the 5 digit number starts with 8, this is GMO. A GMO banana is 84011.
- A 5 digit number starting with 9 means this is organic. Organic banana is 94011.
The EWG analyzed pesticides residues from US Department for agriculture and also food and drug administration to see the ranks for fresh produce foods.
The Environmental protection agency warned that having pesticides makes health issues like nerve damage, birth defects, cancer and such. Kids are at most risk for this.

- Sweet bell pepper
- Summer squash
- Kale and collard greens
The good produce are found to be approved by EWG and have low pesticide levels;

- Sweet peas
- Sweet potato
EWG also said that 99% of apples, 98% from peaches and 97% nectarines have at least one pesticide and an average potato has even more than any other item.
