Apple cider vinegar is a healthy liquid made from fermented apples that is most often used as a treatment for numerous ailments or as a flavoring for our meals. It can be used on salads, as a cleaning product, for beauty purposes and for improving the overall health. And, although healthy, the “organic” ACV you can find in the market isn’t exactly organic. In order to get the most benefits out of the liquid, you need to use unfiltered raw ACV, and we’ll show you how to prepare it yourself at home.
Here’s what you need to do:
- 1 kg. apples
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- Mineral water
- Glass jar
- A piece of cloth or gauze
Wash the apples and peel them, then cut them to pieces and put them in the jar. Next, add the sugar and top with the mineral water, then cover the jar with gauze and secure with a rubber band. Leave the jar in a dark place on room temperature for 5-6 days. Afterwards, remove the gauze and the apples should have already fermented. Strain the liquid and save it in a bottle, then leave it on room temperature for another 3 days. After that, try the ACV to see if it’s sour – if it’s not, leave it to ferment for a few days more. If the acidity is right, you can start using it in any way you want.
