A lot of people drink diet soda and think this might make them lose weight without starving. But there are much healthier and better options than this. We will tell you that sadly, this is awful for the health. a Purdue expert group and officials warned people on this sugary soda.
PhD, Susan E. Swithers prof. of psychological science and behavioral neuroscience of Purdue, said that we must limit or take out such drinks that have no sugars or calories.
She even said that diet soda was examined or its effects on us and was stated that 30% of USA people adults and 15% kids in USA consume such sodas with sweeteners like aspartame, saccharin and sucralose. She added that the public sector for health tries to find solutions for this, as far as obesity and illnesses go and lots of money are invested in commercials for such items!
Beverages are more political issues since government leaders seek regulation for this and taxing is done for limiting consuming of sodas, but these measures are not for diet sodas, since diet sodas are rendered healthy.
For policy decisions, it is more vital that science pays attention to the public and people have to understand what is healthy and what is not.
So, artificial sweeteners make us confused as far as we cannot process all the calories the right way based on sweet foods and we have more risk of metabolic syndromes.
Diet soda can cause these illnesses:
Diabetes 2 and metabolic syndrome
The Diabetes Care journal made a 2009 study where it was said that diet sodas make 36% more risk of metabolic syndrome and 67% for diabetes. Such sweeteners hinder the gut-brain work and lead to problems. Experts of Weizmann Institute for Science, Israel said that such drinks change our gut microbes and raise the risks. Mice were fed with such sodas of 0 calories that had aspartame, saccharin, sucralose and they all got glucose intolerance.
More than 4 soda cans daily made 30% more depression risk and 4 cups coffee made good effects reducing depression risk by 10%.
More asthma risk was caused by such sodas, as well as COPD signs too. Australian study claimed that 13.3% surveyed people with asthma and 15.6% COPD had more than 2 soda cups daily.
Harvard experts tested people that had soda for over 2 decades and long term soda effect lead to 30% reduction in kidney health.
Miami and Columbia Universities made studies with over 2000 adults for a decade and was found that those who had sodas had more risks of strokes and attacks and more risks of heart related deaths.
Less safe brain
The aspartame, the most common sweetener damages the antioxidants in the brain and the long term intake can make imbalance in the brain in the art of glutathione-dependent parts.
This sweetener also is linked to:
- Brain tumor
- Chemical sensitivity
- Weight gain
- Chronic fatigue
- Hear loss
- Multiple sclerosis
- Short term memory loss
- Birth defects
Due to these, careful with these sodas or at least limit them. Even a full calorie soda is better than 0 calorie soda. You can lose weight, true, but the damage to the health is unimaginable.
