The study led by Dr. Ozioma Okonkwo was conducted at the Wisconsin School Of Medicine and Public Health and examined 93 individuals with genes linked to Alzheimer’s disease. The participants were tasked with exercising every day, and those who spent at least 68 minutes of mild physical activity actually had a healthier brain than the other groups.
Exercising offers various benefits for the brain
According to the research, people who exercises regularly had increased brain volume, especially between the reasoning and executive parts of the brain. Some of the tests showed that regular exercise may also improve our mood and cognitive performance in general.
Exercises boosts the blood and oxygen flow to the brain and makes our heart work faster
By improving the blood flow to the brain, regular exercise will also deliver more oxygen to the organ. It will also raise the levels of the important BDNF hormone which protects our brain cells from degeneration and plays a part in the production of new ones.
