Our diet has a big impact on the quality of our life and health. Dietary changes are recommended in cases of serious health problems, and there’s mounting evidence that links poor diets with serious diseases such as diabetes and cancer.
An acidic body is one of the main causes of cancer. In order to prevent this horrible disease, you must alter the pH value of your body to alkaline as cancer cells die can’t thrive in this environment. Consuming a diet rich in acidic foods raises the inflammation in the body, resulting in the development of several type of cancer.
Inflammation occurs when a damaged tissue begins releasing certain compounds which divide cells and regrow them – it’s actually a beneficial process which makes wounds heal. However, chronic inflammation can occur even when there are no wounds, making the cells divide endlessly and damaging our DNA over time.
In order to avoid cancer, you need to start eating an alkaline diet. Here are 7 steps that can help:
1. Swap proteins
In order to eliminate potential bacteria, we cook our meat on high temperatures. However, this can animate the HCA and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in meat and fish, resulting in mutations and damage to the DNA which can lead to cancer. The International Agency for Cancer Research says that deli meats significantly increase the risk of cancer and should be avoided or swapped for healthier types of meat. In order to reduce the risk of colorectal cancer, you should also eat more nuts, seeds, lentils, peas and beans.
2. Eat more fruits and vegetables
High acidity in the body for a prolonged period can lead to acidosis, which is why you need to rebalance your pH and make the body alkaline. You can do this by adding cruciferous vegetables in your diet such as collard greens, kale, cabbage and raw fruits as well.
3. Avoid gluten
In order to prevent gluten intolerance, you should avoid rye, wheat and spelt, as well as cereal, crackers, cookies, pasta, muffins and cakes. Processed gluten often contains pesticides, sugar and dangerous oils, which can significantly harm your health. Add gluten-free grains in your diet such as teff, quinoa, buckwheat, amaranth and rice.
4. Avoid sugar
Cancer cells feed on glucose, which is why you need to avoid sugar. Sugar is highly addictive and will make the pancreas produce more insulin, resulting in insulin resistance and a higher risk of diabetes. Corn syrup is the worst – it’s full of sugar and mercury which can cause cancer, which is why you should replace it with agave or honey.
5. Avoid dairy products
According to professor Colin T. Campbell from the University of Harvard, dairy products are responsible for increased risk of cancer. Cow’s milk is the worst – it contains a compound known as casein that can raise inflammation in the body and damage the bones, leading to increased risk of several chronic diseases and conditions.
6. Avoid sodas and carbonated drinks
Beer, sodas and carbonated drinks in general contain a high level of artificial coloring and additives which can significantly harm your health. In order to keep your body alkaline and prevent cancer, you need to avoid these beverages and drink plain water only.
7. Use high-quality oils for cooking
Vegetable oils such as canola, sunflower and soy oil release carcinogenic compounds when heated which can also harm your central nervous system. This is why it’s important to stop using them right now and switch to olive or coconut oil. These oils are far safer for consumption and can significantly reduce the risk of cancer as well.
